Dear Title, Surname
At FNB we care about helping you maximise your Premier Banking experience and as such it’s important that you understand how your SLOW lounge benefits work. As an FNB Premier client holding an FNB Platinum Cheque or Credit Card you have access to the SLOW lounges. In order to be helpful to you, we have included below some important “Frequently Asked Questions” about how your access to the SLOW Domestic and SLOW International Lounge works.
Please ensure you read the below document in its entirety as there is important information which explains exactly how your SLOW lounge benefits work. |
Will I always be allowed entry into the SLOW lounges? |
SLOW lounge facilities are not exclusive to FNB Platinum clients and may also be used by qualifying FNB Private Clients, RMB Private Bank clients and British Airways cardholders. Capacity in the lounges is uncertain; SLOW Lounges can get especially full during peak travelling times when flights are full or if there have been flight delays, so there is no guarantee for entry and this can only be determined by the SLOW lounge staff at the time of entry.
SLOW does reserve the right to decline entry should any of the lounges be full and access is subject to availability, according to SLOW lounge capacity and safety rules.

How does my access to the SLOW lounges work? |
As an FNB Platinum Cheque or Credit Cardholder you have access to enter the lounge but there are certain qualifying criteria to be met which will determine whether your visit will be free, or whether your visit will be charged, and if charged, what price you will be charged. |
So “access to SLOW lounges” does not mean it’s free? |
Yes, “access to SLOW lounges” does not mean it’s free. As an FNB Platinum Cheque or Credit Cardholder you have “access” to the lounge, but you need to meet qualifying criteria:
- In order to qualify for free visits to the SLOW Domestic Lounges you need to meet the qualifying criteria.
- In order to qualify for visits to SLOW International at discounted rates, you also need to meet the qualifying criteria. However, you will always pay a fee to access the SLOW International Lounge.
Why are these rules in place? |
The rules were introduced to encourage customers to use FNB as their main bank and make use of their FNB Cards as a primary means of transacting. Also, in order to maintain the exclusive and up-market experience that our SLOW Lounges offer to customers, we are required to put these rules in place to manage the limited capacity available. |
Can I still get access even though I do not meet the qualifying criteria for free access to the SLOW Domestic Lounge?
Yes. If you have an FNB Platinum Cheque or Credit Card you can still get access to the SLOW Domestic Lounges at a rate of R250 per person. |
Can I still get access even though I do not meet the qualifying criteria for access to SLOW International at the discounted rate? |
Yes. If you have an FNB Platinum Cheque or Credit Card you can still get access to SLOW International at a rate of R500 per person or child.

Please note when we refer to the qualifying criteria on your FNB Platinum Credit Card in this document we are referring to the above definition.
- What is “the statement billing period” on my Credit Card?

Does it matter which card I use to enter the SLOW Lounge? |
Yes it does. You need to make sure the card you present on entry (your FNB Platinum Cheque or Credit Card) meets the qualifying criteria in order to gain free access into the SLOW Domestic Lounges and to qualify for a discounted rate for the access into the SLOW International Lounge. If the incorrect card is presented you will be charged for your entry into the lounge and these charges are not reversible. |

Is there a restriction on the number of visits that I can make?
There is a restriction of 6 total free visits per calendar month with your FNB Platinum Cheque Card and 6 total free visits per statement/billing period with your FNB Platinum Credit Card (when qualifying criteria is met) for SLOW Domestic Lounges. Free visits are made up of a maximum of 2 visits (cardholder only) during peak times and 4 visits (including guests) during off-peak times. If you have visited the lounge more than your 6 free visit allocations mentioned above you will be charged at R250 per person for a peak time visit and at R125 per person for an off-peak if qualifying criteria are met.

When qualifying criteria are not met, every visit will be charged for at a rate of R500 per person and per child. |

If you have both an FNB Platinum Cheque and a FNB Platinum Credit Card you could qualify for visits on each of these accounts i.e. 6 free visits on your Cheque Card and 6 free visits on your Credit Card, provided you meet the qualifying criteria on each card.
