How does the new smartOTP™ differ from the
current OTP? |
To improve your transacting security, the new smartOTP™ validates your transaction using interactive questions linked to the specific transaction. This will be sent via the Banking App to your cellphone or alternately via SMS to enable you to respond.

If you have the Banking App on your cellphone |
When validating your transactions online you will receive a smartOTP™ via the Banking App.

If you do not have the Banking App on your cellphone |
When validating your transactions online you will receive your smartOTP™ via USSD on your cellphone.

Known issues |
1. Staff using the Banking App to receive smartOTP™ notifications will not receive push messages via the Banking App while connected to wmobilea.
2. During the two-week FNB staff pilot staff may not request for smartOTP™ to be turned off unless critical issues are being experienced.
3. Please ensure that push notifications are enabled for the Banking App to receive smartOTP™ notifications (see user guide).
4. Please turn off LTE if you are using an iPhone5 as push notifications via USSD will not be delivered.
5. smartOTP™ is not available through the Banking App for Blackberry. Blackberry devices will receive the smartOTP™ via USSD. |
