Dear { Customer }

In December 2016 Yahoo announced that about 500 million Yahoo user accounts had been compromised.

As a result, we have seen an increase in phishing mails targeting Yahoo customers trying to con them into giving away their banking details. Here is how you can stay safe.

Avoid email links

Never click on links in emails that claim to be from FNB. Scams try to scare you to click on a link. FNB never sends links in emails. Also be careful of mail attachments that claim to be payment notifications and need your banking credentials to access the notifications.
Type it out

Always type in https://www.fnb.co.za into your browser to login to Online Banking. Never click on a link in an email or the internet to access Online Banking.
Smart inContact

We recommend using the FNB Banking App to approve online transactions directly on the app instead of receiving an OTP. An OTP can be intercepted by fraudsters through phishing and sim swaps while Smart inContact on the app prevents this type of fraud.

How does the FNB Banking App protect you?

No OTPs

With Smart inContact you approve Online Banking transactions on the App. This is more secure than entering an OTP which could be intercepted by fraudsters. You will stop receiving an OTP via SMS or Email.

Verify devices

Make sure the devices you use for Online Banking are verified to avoid unauthorized activity on your account.

Report Fraud

inContact messages on the FNB Banking App are for all transactions, no matter what amount. If you see a transaction that is suspicious, you can click Report Fraud to call the 24/7 FNB Fraud line.

How to verify my app
Your device must be verified to receive Smart inContact.
