First National Bank is proud to be the first South African Bank to offer Global Accounts, available to FNB clients, on their South African banking profiles.

FNB Global Accounts are opened and managed via FNB Online Banking, available to SA Resident individuals, and are offered in nine currencies namely US Dollars, British Pounds, Euros, Australian Dollars, Indian Rupees, Chinese Renminbi, Arab Emirate Dirham, Swiss franc and Canadian Dollar.

Now that you have opened your Global Account, you have completed the first step in the process of moving funds offshore in the most efficient and effective manner possible.

The next step is to fund this account, and there are two options available to you:

Option 1: Transfer funds between your Cheque Account to your Global Account(s)

  • Login to Online Banking and follow the steps as prompted under the ‘Transfer’ tab.
  • Documentation required when transferring from your Cheque Account to the Global Account, for exchange control purposes include:
    - If using your R1million Single Discretionary Allowance: No other documentation required*
    - If using your R10million Foreign Investment Allowance: Tax Clearance Certificate (referred to as FIA-001) can be obtained from SARS

*Note: You may be asked for a copy of your green bar-coded ID book or smart ID if we do not have records of this document.

Option 2: Receive funds from abroad directly into this account

Simply provide the sender with the following details:
  • Swift Code - FIRNZAJJXXX
  • Branch Code - provide your six digit branch code
  • Global Account number – provide your Global Account number

  • No minimum balance required
  • No monthly maintenance fees

  • Make payments abroad
  • Earnings from abroad can be paid directly into your Global Account
  • Transfer funds between your Global Account and Cheque Account as well as between your other Global Accounts
  • Collect additional eBucks*** Reward points by maintaining the minimum currency balance on your Global Account
  • Manage your Global Account(s) online
Additional information:
  • Email statements: You will receive free monthly email statements, as per your registered email statement address associated with your Cheque Account.
    Note: If no transactions were performed in a month, no statement will be sent in that cycle.
  • Receive free inContact  notifications on your account transactions for values over R100.00.
  • Should you not fund your Global Account within the first 3 months of opening, it will automatically be closed.
