If you have already uploaded all your documents online, go to 'Your final step'. FNB requires the following documents for a company incorporated in South Africa, in order to activate your FNB Business Cheque Account successfully.
  1. ONE of the following documents confirming the registration of your entity:

    Company registered pre 1 May 2011
    • CIPC Document (Disclosure Certificate obtainable from CIPC)
      OR
    • (CM1) Registration Certificate
      OR
    • (CM22) Notice of Registered Office and Postal Address
    Company registered post 1 May 2011
    • CIPC Document (Disclosure Certificate obtainable from CIPC)
      OR
    • (COR14.3) Registration Certificate
      OR
    • (COR18.3) Registration Certificate conversion from Close Corporation (CC)
      OR
    • (COR14.1A) Notice-Incorp initial Directors of Co
  2. ID document of the shareholders (in the event that a stakeholer is not a natural person, please provide the documentation listed below).
  3. Resolution document, which we will provide to you, and which will give a person (you/alternative individual) the authority to enter into transactions with FNB (the 'authorised representative'), on the entity's behalf.
  4. In the event that an alternative individual is the authorised representative, please provide the ID document, address and contact details of such authorised representative.
  5. Proof of operating address of the business. This document:
    - Must display the business name and physical address where the business operates from
    - Must be a recurring document (i.e. NOT a once-off type document like a doctor's bill).

Please note: Should the operating address be the same as the residential address of the business owner, we will provide you with a declaration of operating address. The declaration should then be accompanied by a proof of the residential address of such a person.

How to upload documents

Option 1 (recommended)
Visit the FNB website www.fnb.co.za and follow these steps: FNB Homepage >> Contact Us + Tools >> Upload
documents for my Business >> enter your reference number >> upload the relevant documents

Option 2
Email your documents to accountopening@fnb.co.za and use your use the reference number and account number provided at the start of this communication as your reference.

Please note: A Business Banker may contact you to assist with the process and verify these documents.

Your final step: Deposit funds into your account to activate it!

After submitting the required documents listed above (and receiving confirmation of validity), simply deposit funds into your new FNB Business Cheque Account by doing an EFT, or at your nearest FNB Branch or FNB ATM.

Delivery of your FNB Business VISA Cheque Card: Note that a courier service will be contacting you shortly to make arrangements for the delivery of your business cheque card. You will need to provide the courier with proof of identity of the cardholder.

Should you be an FNB Personal Account holder, you will also be able to activate the card via your Online Banking profile.

(CK2) Amended founding statement only applies if there has been an amendment to (CK1)

  • Letter of Authority
  • ID Document and proof of address of all trustees, and verify it with documentary proof
